I just could not resist!!!

Me and the Bledisloe.

Pretty stoked I decided to work from the other office today :)

One of our ex colleagues now works for the NZRFU and was able to pop off with the Bledisloe cup to visit us during the morning. Pretty crazy, but pretty awesome too! Lifting up the trophy - an experience I now share with Richie, Dan et al. :)

...

There's just something about this video, that is absolutely awesome. Hmmm is it the fact that my name is in the title? or is it something else??

The View

It’s only taken 3 years, but I have a window seat in the office, and I can see water!! (And I’m talking about ocean rather than the dripping cloud variety – most Aucklanders see too much of that type :)
Anyway, pretty awesome.

Just had a long overdue fitness test. I’m still doing pretty good, feeling good too :)
And I also visited the old gym the other day (had to pick up my old fitness test results). Anyway, it was great to catch up with my old trainer, I always regretted not saying bye to her when I left.

Also, LL shift last night... just by pure fluke I got one of the same guys I spoke to last time. Fate perhaps? He even recognised me and gave an update on his situation. It was great to hear of the progress he's made. I even sensed a brightness in his voice. It’s these such moments that remind you of the difference we can make...

There has also been some fallout from Secret Santa, people are accusing me of the dodgy prezzies! Well, excuse me folks, I only bought ONE (and it wasn't that dodgy anyway!! :P)

Saw some sexy tyres online (for my road bike) and decided to get some. Only problem - I only got one - doh!! It's not a Unicycle Jono... Such a dork :P

What's on my mind?

If someone has really let you down, is an apology hoping for too much? hmmm

Got the work Xmas party on Friday. It’s a “Wild West” theme. What to wear? What to wear?

I'll be off to do the 4 day canoe trip down the W(h)anganui River over the new year, as well as the 42 Traverse (one of the best MTB rides up here apparently!). Man that’ll be awesome.

Oh yeah, and of course I’m very much looking forward to seeing the folks back home too. Can’t wait to play on Dad’s PlayStation 3 (hang on, how come Dad has one and I don't???!! :P).

Also check out what Secret Santa got me. How cute is this? It's a mug with it's own wee lid. And once I’m finished with it, my kids can use it too :D

Other thing on my mind is the pain. The pain that was in my leg last night. A bit too much ice hockey last night I think - I played a bit too long (and was at the gym before as well...). My leg fully cramped up. Me and cramps aye, seem to be unwelcome companions...

Also, H.U. thanks a heap. You're the best :)

Some Watercolour

I'm not sure where this is, but I don't think I'd mind being there at all. Looks like a nice place.

This isn't watercolour, but its a much better photo of my other painting...

Off topic

Well, not that there ever is a specific topic or anything....

But I started doing a bit of jump rope training at the gym the last couple months. Manidy man, it’s so much fun - I often find myself visualising some new moves and practicing them in my head. I’m not quite up to Pretty Boy Floyd standard yet, but soon enough ;)

I have to admit I felt a bit gammy when I started, since people’s eyes naturally tend towards the whizzing sound coming from the corner of the gym. However once you get a few skills it’s not too bad at all J.

Move over 10 year old girls!! (hmmm, I wonder if kids still jump rope these days??)

MTBer or Roadie?

I’ve always found it quite amusing, this whole gang mentality between road cyclists and mountain bikers. It’s like you must pick a side and fall in line :P
Well there’s road bikers - with their skinny bikes, plastic pedals, and of course the lycra. And then there’s mountainbikers with their fat bikes, baggy shorts and helmet visors.

The thing is, I’ve wanted to put some clip pedals on my road bike (to go even faster), but decided to stick on MTB pedals, since then I only need one pair of shoes.
But when I was riding in today, I got told off by a Roadie for using the wrong type of pedals. Haha.

So maybe I’m not a girly Roadie, or a Mountainbiker.... I’m just a Rebel, yeah ;)

Anyway, that’s probably enough geeky biker talk for most of you.

Catch you later :)

Interesting...

Ice hockey has been characterized as the fastest and most violent team sport in the world played with clubs (hockey sticks), a bullet (puck), and knives (skates).”

Hmmm... interesting way of looking at it... :D

Oh yeah...

Had a full proper LL shift on Monday night. Started kinda crap on the first call (the caller was feeling very ‘stuck’ and I managed to let a lot of that project on to me, a good learning experience anyway!!). But after that warm up I was much more effective on the next one - felt good, managed to zone in a core value that was really holding her back, whether she will use that I don’t know, but I do hope so.
I also attempted some Watercolour painting last night, it’s very different to acrylic, you can do some amazing effects with it. I’m thinking maybe I should turn one half of my room into a studio, somehow - it’s certainly big enough. Oooo a project perhaps – exciting!

Painting Efforts

I really like how this one turned out, it has a nice impact. I spent quite a while practice drawing the little men (I was paranoid I'd screw them up on the actual painting). Turned out pretty well in the end though.

Kinda here and there with this one, I like the trees, and the background turned out ok, but the yellow looks a bit overbearing in this shot, it seemed a lot duller on the actual paper.
The way I painted it ended with an almost watercolourish look about it. Foreground is a little knobly for my liking. For some reason I enjoy painting almost everything except foregrounds - I found them pretty tedious for some reason. Oh well, I'm a beginner - and I can use that excuse for a while yet :)

Various bits...

Quick recap on some highlights in Jono’s world:
  • Housesitting - Mika (the cat) is the most friendly, placid thing I have EVER met. And it was great having Sky to watch the All Whites game. Man, I totally yelled the house down! And with MySkyHDI I could rewind, pause & slowmo all the cool bits too :)
  • Painting – just finished latest paining (photos up soon). Teacher wants me to quit my day job, and I wish I could, but not sure if it would quite pay the bills (yet) :P
  • Curling at the ice rink – enjoyed the novelty, but ice is much more fun with skates on ;)
  • 1st game of ice hockey (padded up and everything, even scored 2 goals – yeee haaar), just a practice game but still, this might be the pinnacle of my career.
  • Not sick anymore (that’s good, sux being sick)
  • 1st Lifeline shift – talk about nerves (!) the first time I was waiting for that phone to ring. I managed to get the counsellor ‘flow’ going after a few minutes and got through it. Since it was the first one, my supervisor was listening in and gave me a good recap afterwards. It can be hard to gauge how much difference as a counsellor you are making, you can’t really solve anything, but for some you can help them get to a point where they are ready to, and for most you can help them get through the day. And no, I will not be telling you what time my next shift is! J
  • Curry party – I made a green beef curry (from scratch) which I called “Moo Thai” (geddit??). I have to say, bought paste is fine by me! The taste/ satisfaction benefit in making the paste from scratch does not make up for the effort saved in just buying it!!! So I guess the skill becomes finding a good paste ;)

Art?

Following on from the Thai cooking class I was doing a month or so back I signed up for the community art class. Just did some pencil sketches last week, but the teacher bullied me into attempting some painting this week.

I found a pic of a lighthouse in one of the books and had a shot at it. I decided to keep the colours simple - but still, never in a million years did I think I was capable of painting anything Blog worthy.

But you know what? I guess I surprised myself a bit, so here it is, on my Blog :)

Might touch up the house on the right a bit. And I should probably sign my initials on the bottom too...

I've got a few ideas for my next project, we'll see what happens I guess!

Sniffle

I've been a bit sick this week, which has kinda sucked, but rather than talk about that, I'll show you what I was up to BEFORE I was sick :) That's much more exciting. Found myself in/around Tauranga last weekend and lucky to have the most awesomest weather.

I'm quite proud of how I managed to make it over this thing.

Definitely gaining more confidence on some of the more technical obstacles. This one was actually pretty easy, its just the height of it that made me a bit hesitant.

Here I am, posing at the top of the track....

OK we found this spot (called Waimarino I think) that was just so much fun. Anyway I think half a day of dipping in and out of the water was what contributed to this annoying cold I have right now. They had this thing called the "Blob" which was just so cool - basically you get shot up (what seems like) miles into the air - and then land in the water - totally disorientated - into the wate.

This pic here is me on the good ol' Tarzan rope.

Oh and in other news - I had my final Lifeline assessment today. Passed it -Yay! :) And managed to do pretty well I thought. Basically we had to run through a whole scenario (role play) with the instructors and demonstrate the various counselling skills - I've still got stuff to work on of course but I've definitely come a long way. Anyway, such a relief.... and I start my first shift in a few weeks time. Today was the last gathering of our training group so it was a bit sad in that respect (we ducked of to have Yum cha for lunch which was awesome! :). I'll see them around of course but its always sad when something like that comes to an end. And I've made some truly awesome friends for sure.

Next week I'm starting some house sitting in Epsom which is exciting! A friend of mind recommended me and I met the owners last week -its a real nice, modern place. I'm looking forward to it - just gotta look after a cat, feed some fish, and water some plants for a couple weeks.

Anyway, goodnight :)

Biking in.

I biked to work today, but left a bit later than usual. It definitely keeps you on your toes.
There are more cars around, but the best thing is – more fellow bikers :) I think I got to work much quicker, mainly coz there’s all these people to race against. When you pass one of them, there is usually another up ahead to catch up to. And if for some strange reason (shock! horror!!) someone passes you - then they are now your enemy, and must not be allowed to escape! Yes I’m a tad crazy, but normal is boring...

There are also certain intersections where groups of cyclists clump up before the traffic lights, so it’s a bit of a test to get up to speed and beat the pack, or is that a peloton?

An Intro to Geocaching.

A friend of mine sent me this little movie which gives a pretty good rundown on Geocaching (apparently this is from a recent film).

It's so very much like my experiences with Geocaching....

I found a primo spot for lunch today. Great views, great perch, and good weather (although I can't always rely on the weather being good, can I?). Only thing that spoilt it was the fact I had waaaaay too much damn chilli in my stir fry lunch. Owww goes my tongue. It's pretty much recovered now though.

Quiz time!

Can you name all four of the amazing sportsmen shown in this photo??

Seeya Dan

My mate Dan had his birthday recently (and he's recently left his job for self employment). A group of mates and I got him a nicely framed photo to remind him of the unique connection we have - as work email buddies ;)

Unless you have super duper laser eyes (better than mine), you'll probably need to click on it to see the text. But make sure you keep in mind this is firmly tongue in cheek (Sheesh wouldn't want any of my work colleagues seeing this and getting me in the poo!)

Cool

Just spoke to my manager today. She’s organising our end of year team event at the ice skating rink.... Cool!
I didn’t prod her that much, although I think that means lots of my workmates will want to watch me skate now.

Hmmm. Better get practicing.

Also, don’t you hate it when your car gets broken into? The rascal stole $5 of parking coins and a muesli bar. Unfortunately for him there wasn’t much else in there. New car on the way methinks...

Cuzzy spotted a koala!

This is an email my cousin, Nina (Noosa, Australia) sent to her local newspaper.

Hi

My name is Nina Birtles (11). I have just had a koala in the yard.

I was with my sister Geneva(9) and her friend Georgia(8) I was making
potions with them when it happened and it climbed down the tree then
walked around the yard and came up another tree and did a humongous
jump to the yard next door, my neighbour across the road Trena reckons
that our potions attracted the nature gods and sent a koala to the
yard. I've got a movie of it doing the jump and a photo for the paper.

Thank you.

From Nina

PS:I took these photos on my camera and hope you can publish a photo. I don't mind , even if it's like a few weeks later.

Oh, and here's the video :)

I should ask about that potion recipe, wouldn't mind one that summoned a dinosaur, maybe a Triceratops or a friendly T-rex. That'd be cool.

Teehee

So I guess it pays to be honest huh? I got some scorched almonds too! Just need to correct her on the spelling :)

I've been thinking.

Dangerous I know...

Well, I was thinking a bit about the whole point of having a blog, and if I was to keep this, what should I do with it? I’ve had this one for a while and in some ways it seems like a waste to let it die. I do use Facebook these days but the problem I have with Facebook is that it’s basically one big spamming engine, where your “friends” spam you whether you like it or not.
At least you guys who read my blog are making a conscious decision to do so (and I do check my stats every so often, so I know you’re out there!! :P be thankful I don’t have quite the numbers to bother hosting ads yet though) - oh and thanks by the way! J
It does feel cool to have my own blog tho, y’know my own space where I can say whatever I feel like.

Well, I think I need to re-evaluate my posting philosophy. The main problem is, I’m really super duper busy. So it always feels like such damn hard work to post regular, decent structured posts of content, and photos, as much as I’d like to.
But I’ve come to the conclusion that something is better than nothing, so I might (try to) start posting smaller, less structured posts, but more regularly. I certainly aint aiming to be another Twitter-er though. As much as I try, I still don’t understand Twitter. Anyway, let’s see how it goes.

Also, went out to a buffet lunch with workmates today, why do I always eat waay too much??? I was friggen yummo tho... glad I have the gym to beat me back into shape.

Nice Spot

A couple weekends ago I found myself with some time to spare on the way back from Taupo. After wandering into the local Tokoroa info centre the friendly lady suggested a few options for me to have a nosey.

She recommended a nice spot called the Te Waihou walkway which was on the way towards Tirau.
Anyway I decided to have a look and I'm glad I did. What a beaut day it was.

Apparently these springs are where heaps of our bottled water comes from. I can see why - it really is just so crystal clear. It's such a peaceful place. I managed to find myself a good spot to have some moments. I've been keeping a journal recently and I took some time to write a few thoughts. I was also inspired, so I even decided to attempt some drawing/sketching :) Its a good thing no one else will ever have to see it ;) But still, it reminded me how much I love to draw...
It's a nice easy walk too, you don't have to be a hard out mountain man or anything.

Also, I've been biking to work a bit recently which has been real awesome (kinda wondered why it took me so long to try it actually!).

Amusing story: One morning I felt like something different from the usual breakfast, so I decided to get some Maccas - and rather than the hassle of locking the bike up etc, I biked through the drive through :)
It was pretty funny, the girl on the intercom was like, "drive, errr I mean, bike, on through!" and she had a cute smile as I biked round to pay and pick up my breakfast combo :) I think I might have made her day!

Just need to figure out a better way to deal with the drink since its not that easy to bike with it....

Jono, meet Lifeline.

Far out, this weekend has been intense.... my eyelids feel like lead weights.
I've just started the 12 week training course in preparation for working for Lifeline.
So, "What is Lifeline?" you may be wondering, and rightly so.
Well.... it's a non-profit, voluntary organisation that offers 24 hour counselling services.
I recently applied to become one of their phone counsellors.

Anyway, the trainings will take place over a 12 week period - a mixture of Friday evenings and days during the weekends. I've had this lined up for a wee while now, but haven't told a whole bunch of people as yet. It feels quite different, now that I've started it - something tangible, rather than just a thought, which is a bit weird actually. I've been a bit anxious about it, but excited as well. Its pretty cool for me to be doing something like this, and a bit surprising in a way - volunteer work has not been a huge priority of mine in the past. But it's interesting where life's paths lead us.

I had my interview/induction a couple weeks ago which was pretty tough. I was really happy to make it through, although I'm also quite sure that was the easy part...

This weekend has been pretty full on, emotionally draining. Most of the time has been spent on self awareness.... its a really important thing for anyone to work on, but especially so for counsellors. I've also met some amazingly talented people - the trainers - as well as my core group - there are 6 of us, and we'll be together for the rest of the training. With the depths you get to with these people, in such a short time, it doesn't take long to become pretty damn tight, but I'm sure we'll get to know each other even better over the coming months. It was quite a priviledge to hear everyone's story, as well as have them listen to yours.
Although I must admit, I did consider mine less dramatic in general compared to everyone elses... but everything is relative... we all have (or create!) different levels of complexity in our lives. I also noticed though, that what actually happened, is of far lesser consequence than how it made you feel inside. (ok, ok, woops - getting a bit touchy feely there...).

So I guess this is a part of that new chapter I'm writing. Let's see how it turns out.

On a totally separate topic, if you want some entertainment, read this.
(Its my summary of an Orienteering race I had recently - which was just an absolute disaster!!!)

Oh, and I also got to the cinema to watch Tarantino's 'Inglourious Basterds'. It's awesome. Tarantino is back on form - and I highly recommend :)

Boo

This is purely proof that I have logged in, but not long enough to write anything substantial. Stay tuned over the next few days.... yes I know you will be dying from the anticipation, and I'm sorry about that.

What to do?

As most people are probably aware, when I'm not being a geek in front of my computer typing up blog entries, or glued to Facebook, I like to be outside. It's definitely one of the best things about this country we live in - the accessibility of the outdoors.

But anyway, what are some of the things I've been doing the past few weeks?

Mountainbiking.

Woodhill is a cool place, I've still got a lot of exploring to do out there. I'm always keen to head out there with mates (or without if necessary). There's a whole bunch of these wooden obstacles. I can generally do everything up to 3 X's (they have difficult ratings from X to XXXXX aka 5 X's). I'm planning to enter some mountainbike orienteering events coming up, as well as enter some longer distance (e.g. 50km or so?) cross country races in the future.

Orienteering.

OK, so this is actually a photo of my sister on her first attempt (I thought she'd enjoy the exposure), but Orienteering is really cool. It's like running but a a lot more fun, and that's a good thing. Running is good for training, but it can be a bit boring sometimes, so Orienteering is a good way to jazz it up a bit. You have to engage muscles above your neck a lot more (ok so technically the brain isn't a muscle but you should know what I mean :P). Really glad I was introduced to this sport. It's also really cool just being out there in the forest, even if you are totally frustrated and a bit lost - you can always enjoy the scenery.

Other forest activities

This is me on one of the flying foxes at Tree Adventures out at Woodhill. First time I'd done that and wowwee it was damn freaky at times (I'm not the best with heights) but man is it fun. And I'm sure everyone else who came along agreed :)

Taking silly shadow photos while at Tree adventures.

I'm always keen for a shadow photo, usually I take them because its sometimes easier to take a photo of my shadow than it is to take one of myself (unless someone else is around). And even then, when you take a photo of yourself its usually only of your face, or of one of your limbs, unless you go to the effort of setting a tripod up, but that doesn't happen terribly regularly. If its a sunny day and your shadow is lookin' good, then a good shadow photo is the way to go.

Snowboarding.

Although I've done it for a couple years now, I'm actually really new to this sport in terms of the amount of time on the snow. I only got to the mountain once I think last year, and maybe 3 or 4 sessions at snow planet. But in that time I've managed to come a pretty long way. I can turn both ways fairly well (i.e. linking turns) and control my speed. And even going to the summit of Mt Hutt wasn't too freaky for me! :) Definitely keen to do this a bit more in the coming years.

Geocaching.

If my parents were religious, then they would worship the god of Geocaching! They are just, like, so, totally into it :P I'm only just beginning (since I recently acquired my own GPS) but I can see the attraction. Definitely a cool way to get out there and explore the world around you. There are literally, hundreds, of geocaches hidden in various places just within 10km or so of Auckland - it's quite daunting actually!!!

Also, I had my birthday this week. And I'm 26 now. So that's the latter half of the 20s then. Hmmmm.

Sunday, 5 July 2009

A few thoughts...

I'm typing this entry on my NEW laptop. Its a sexy red thang! Perfecto for blogging ;)

Let's see.... something I've just happened to notice recently is that, well... long term relationship break ups majorly suck. OK, so maybe I already knew this, but luckily I've managed to go through most of my life so far happy at not having to deal with it.
That's not to say its a bad thing - because when I really think about it, it's actually a good thing. Greener pastures await.

Like death, it is simply a part of life, and I have come to accept that. As when someone close to you dies (which, funnily enough, is also true for me recently), you have to go through a grieving process. This is necessary, but its also really annoying and takes waaaay longer than you want it to.

In case you were wondering, here's the stages of the grieving process...
  1. Shock
  2. Denial
  3. Guilt
  4. Anger
  5. Depression
  6. Acceptance
You don't necessarily go through all these stages in the specified order, in fact most people flitter between multiple stages for a while. However to properly get on with life you do need to get to stage 6 (Acceptance), at some point.

Recently, when I've been reflecting and talking to people - I've noticed a lot of my thought patterns are now aligned to stage 6, and that's a very good thing.

You can't really speed up this grieving process (as much as I really wanted to). You do have to go through it properly - otherwise you're really just kidding yourself, and it will take longer to come out the other end in the long run.

Effective communication is pretty much impossible, but that doesn't stop people from trying - more likely doing more harm than good.

A good bunch of friends and family (I consider family as friends too by the way) is one of the best supplements in all of this. Thanks to all my friends out there, for well... being my friends :)
One of these friends pointed out to me recently that no matter how bad things get, I'm generally able to have a bit of a laugh. And overall, that's a good thing! Unfortunately, it has also managed to get me into trouble on occasions, but I shouldn't have to apologise for well... being me.

Sometimes life appears to come full circle... Tomorrow, I move back to the old office from 2 years ago! The irony of this situation is not lost on me.
And on a lighter note, for those of you who know me, my favourite song of all time is just oh so relevant right now :)

Also, cool photos next time. Promise!

But I will leave you with this: My awesome stack of chips at a recent Poker night. Unfortunately this is as big as it got, and I spent the next 3 hours dying a slow and painful death.... hmmm.

You've got to Soldier on.

  • A caring, loving family (the best in the whole wide world!)
  • Awesome supportive friends
  • Healthy mind, body and soul
  • Passions to brighten up my life
  • I'm Awesome!
These are some of the things I remind myself of at the moment :)

For the past two years I had a best friend who was so much like me, yet so different at the same time. I was enlightened, and treated to times of abundant joy - as well as periods marked starkly by it's absence. I was challenged and pushed to my limits in nearly every way.

I loved and, in a way, was loved in return. But you must first love yourself before you can truly love another. And so I have learnt...

I have glimpsed into a whole new world with a depth I've never seen anywhere else.
But if you dig deep enough, it can get awfully dark - and you will be overwhelmed if you stay there too long.

So its time to move on, and I've got to Soldier on :)

A New Chapter?

I've taken quite an emotional beating recently. And subsequently my confidence has also sunken to depths not seen in a while. Always the (sometimes reluctant) optimist however, I do believe it will come back, in time.

Recently, my Grandma passed away. Initially I felt I had taken it quite well - but things really started to hit home when I got back to Christchurch. This is when all my memories started to flood back - seeing my family, the hangouts of my youth, Christchurch air, water. It's a magnificent place. And it was a truly beautiful ceremony. I was so honoured to be one of the lead pallbearers, as well as having the chance to say goodbye during the service. I will miss her so dearly. I just hope that I can make her proud.

When I got back to Auckland, other parts of my life began to unravel before me as well.
All I can say is that a feeling of helplessness has been over me for a while, and nothing lasts forever.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

- Invictus, W.E. Henley

Some other stuff...

Just a few photos from happenings earlier this year. Went to the zoo to see those new tiger cubs. So friggen cute! Baby tigers are just so much more interesting than adult tigers. They actually show some personality for one thing. These guys were fighting over a deflated plastic ball.

This is me before heading off on The Dual, which was a 50km mountainbike over Rangitoto and Motutapu islands. It was an awesome ride but the logistics of getting your bike over there were - challenging.

Oh I wish I had Sky (Sport)....

It is 1:45am and I am sitting in the lounge by myself listening to Radio sport while I type this post. My beloved Crusaders are playing the evil Bulls and we have just lost the lead. The Bulls have just nosed in front, 25-20. The commentator is so dramatic and the crowd is deafening. My heart is racing. Oh how much I want the Crusaders to win....

My original plan was to watch it at the local bar. I had rung them earlier yesterday to confirm it as an option and the girl on the phone assured me that they "always show the rugby!!" as if I was stupid or something. Well when my flatties and I arrived it was ominously dark and quiet. They were closed!!!! I can't believe she lied to me! I was so disappointed. The driving and parking in town is just too much to make me bother with that. Turns out none of the suburban bars are open at this time. Oh I wish we had Sky (Sport), I don't need ANY of the other channels. My mate Howie lives nearby and has Sky, but not Sport (I know, sacrilege!!!). And well, its just way too late to be ringing up my Aunty, not that I'm sure she has Sport either :)

Well there's my rant, but I need some way to expend the energy stored up from that 'coffee' pill 30 minutes ago!!

In other news, I went up the Sky Tower last night. Its my first up there, can you believe. How awesome but far out, so scary!! (I am really not good with heights). Those glass panels on the floor are cool but I can't help but think about how strong that glass is, it's a long way down....

Blog!

OK I wouldn't be surprised all you readers have deserted me since it has definitely been a while! I still intend to update every now and then but my Internet life has been preoccupied by other things recently. OK, I'll tell you what they are...

Firstly is my training log which you can view here:

http://www.attackpoint.org/log.jsp/user_4735

This is what K and I use to track our training, I thoroughly recommend it if you are someone who does all sorts of things for exercise and is not restricted to running/ gym as its the most customisable training log I've seen (most restrict you to certain types of activities, which is just stupid) and I also love the noticible lack of corporate advertising crap - see mapmyrun.com for a really good example of way too much ad cluttter! Although I do use it sometimes for the mapping, I have found the NZ map my run is generally a better alternative - www.mapmyrun.co.nz.

Also if you are not already a user, check out Facebook! (Be warned it can be severe life drainer if not managed properly, not as bad as World of Warcraft though...).
My page is here. Feel free to add me if you consider me a 'friend' :)

Also remember to check out my photos on Picasa - here, I still upload pics from most of my adventures.
