Superman needed help saving the world in downtown. Lucky for him, Howie and I were around...
Earlier this week I decided to cook up a proper dinner, which is kinda rare these days. However, I managed to discover what can happen to the ceiling when you combine canned tomatoes, a really crap can opener, and an impatient cook....
I was preparing some Tomato rice, just like Mum taught me. Well aside from the tomato on the ceiling that is. Tasted gooood and I ate it all up. I could only get the can part of the way open and had to kinda force it the rest of the way which led to (at the time) unforeseen results...
I had a thoroughly enjoyable time cleaning though :)
Nick and Tracey's flat held a Sumo party last weekend to celebrate Tracey's birthday. There just happened to be a couple of suits lying around to help us get in character (yes, they are suits).
I challenged Cass to a match and below is a video of the mayhem that ensued. I even added music and edited out the boring bits for you - Enjoy :)
Phew, notch down another Easter Tourney - the second for my Auckland based team. Another awesome experience!
Firstly, big thanks to my uncle for lending me his Van ('Gina') ensuring our team had a much needed travel method between the venues. Although it's a seven seater we discovered that 13 was well within its capabilities.
As expected, we endured a hefty dose of touch - 10 games all up, with five on the Sunday. I'm real proud of the team as we really seemed to play above our weight in some of the games! We played my old mates (and eventual winners) Canterbury, four times - two each for mixed & mens, in both the round-robin and then semi finals - just unfortunate we came second each time.
We were doing unexpectedly well in some of the round robin play until most of the guys in our team decided to cramp up (note: I was not one of them). Calf/hamstring cramp was the most popular, but Dan was different - and ended up with 'butt cramp'. Well it certainly provided a lot of laughs, as well as the following video (Jules doing her best to ease his pain):
Some of us also played Dodgeball which was wicked. Although I'm very glad we never had to play the scary Wellington teams - one of their guys knocked someone out :O It would have been cool to face off against my Sis though - ah well, next time.
On top of all the sport, we partied hard, had some fun at the expense of sleeping team-mates, and glammed up for the ball... And of course, I also got to catch up with my folks while I was down.
Unfortunately I'm a bit light on photos, dunno what happened there, just wasn't in a snappy happy mood I guess. However, thanks to a few sources, I have managed to accumulate some snaps which you can view in my new Picassa Web Album:
Last week I went to a "Tae fit" class at the Uni gym with Howie. It's the first time I've done a class like that and was a tiring but also very odd experience! Usually at the gym I just do standard weights and cardio but thought it would be good to change it up a bit. Anyway, in this class the teacher had us skipping, hopping , doing shuttles (while crawling) mixed in with the odd punch and kick. Howie appriately described the experience like a "boot camp" :)
Got my ass kicked playing mini golf on Saturday for my mates' birthday and also did some long overdue shopping, yipee.
Easter tourney in Dunedin is now less than a week away. I'll be playing touch as well as Dodgeball (went to the trials last week, mad game!) On Sunday we had our final touch training... The time has finally come for us to make it happen. Wish us luck!
