Pretty Comet

You see, I know this science geek down in Taupo named Michelle (she likes rocks). And she sent me these photos of the McNaught Comet from the lakefront:

I haven't seen it myself but I think it's some kind of space rock. I don't actually know if it's gone yet or whether it's coming back.

As you may be able to tell I have extinguished all my current knowledge on this subject. However, to further satisfy your need for information, go here:

Touch this week went really well - we did a lot more of what we've actually been practicing so it was good to come away with a convincing win. Sean and I combined to score a lovely try. Here's an explanation for any of you fellow touch geeks - Sean gassed his opposite on an angle and then I followed with a well timed late cut (in "Z" fashion) finished off by a graceful dive over the line.

Bring on next week!

Also, somewhat out of the blue, an old workmate of mine asked me if I wanted to go waterskiing this (long) weekend. I've never done it before but man it looks like fun. Will let you know how it goes... next week.

Yippee $$!!

Guess who won 5th Division Lotto?
And since that’s a rhetorical question, I’m not answering it.

Anyway, if I subtract the costs (purchasing 2 tickets), I made a profit of $7!! Not bad eh?
Well I’m allowed to get excited because I’m new to gambling...

While I'm on the subject of being a winner, some of you may have noticed that I tend to disappear on Tuesday nights and Sunday afternoons, each time returning with an ever improving tan and often a few additions to the number of grazes on my legs.

Why do I do it? Well, blame these guys:

And here is us trying really hard to pretend to look serious …

By the way, we're actually a touch team.

This past weekend contained a bit of deja vu. Quite a bit of Wii (Zelda, yeah!!!) as well as some tennis followed by a welcome dip in the sea. However, this was also followed up by a yummy Sunday roast partially cooked by Cass (as in she had some help, not that the the roast was undercooked... :)

Tonight, I’m going to start a three night run of eating out. Just so happens I’ve teed up a bunch of catch-ups with mates that involve food - No dishes, yay! Less money in my wallet, boo!

Bummer...

Today is the last day of the New Years break :(
So tomorrow, it'll be up early and back off to work. And yep, I'm still waiting for the excitement to sink in...
Most people will probably still be on holiday for the rest of the week so it'll be pretty quiet I reckon.

Recently the weather has been amazing, but today its kinda crappy - so a good day for Nintendo!

On Sunday I went mountain biking with some of my touch team buddies out at Woodhill. Unfortunately, I didn't take my camera because I made the mistake of thinking we wouldn't stop very often. We actually stopped numerous times, especially following the multitudes of jumps/ramps in order to watch each others attempts - and often laugh at the results! Luckily I came away injury free (can't have been going fast enough ;)
Well, practice makes perfect, and we're all looking forward to next time!

Now, for lack of a better photo, this week you can analyse the contents of my fridge.
Generally, I discard any food that has been around too long. However, in this instance I missed something, and it has gone bad... there will be a prize for the first person to spot it! (yes, you read right, a prize :) !!

Happy New Year to You.

And here's a New Year's Salute...

These photos are from New Years Day when a few of us decided to brave Auckland's (not-quite-beach) weather. It did mean that we had a lot of space to ourselves though of course.

On my way to Rangitoto...

Anyway, what else has been happening prior?? - Well, I went down to Christchurch for Christmas. On the flight down I had a great chat to lovely American lady. She has visited all 50 states but this trip to NZ was her very first outside of the USA!

I took my wonderful new Nintendo Wii down and gave many people a demo. And I think everyone either wants or has one now. It was great to catch up with all the mates and whanau back home.

The flight back up to Auckers was interesting. Firstly, a big thumbs down to those people (you know who you are) who can't be bothered reading their seat numbers correctly! I had to shift seats twice to accommodate them - and getting back towards the front of the plane while everyone else is boarding is not only difficult but also makes me look like a diddle. Hardly fair - but well, that's life you know.

Since I've been back I've downloaded and been watching a bunch of Pussycat Doll music videos - they are such a talented bunch - catchy tunes too.

I also bought myself a stunt kite (another wee Xmas prezzie to myself) so I've been flying that a bit when the wind's around. It's great fun and I've been getting pretty good - I can do a fair few different tricks now and I crash it much less than before.

May that wind keep coming. Amen.

All the best for 2007! If ever you need a hand know that you can always count on....

SuperJono!!!
